What we collect

When you create a book, we collect: the photos you upload, your child's name, date of birth, and interests, your name and email address, and your postal code for shipping. Payment is processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.

What your photos are used for

Your photos are used for one thing: making your book. They are never sold, shared with third parties, or used to train any AI model. They are stored on private servers in Canada and are not accessible to anyone outside Troven.

Advertising

We use Meta's advertising tools to help us reach people who might be interested in Story Weaver. This uses page-visit data from our marketing pages, and — when you complete an order — the order total and a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address, so we can tell which ads led to a sale. It never includes your uploaded photos, or anything you enter about your child. The page where you review your book carries no advertising or analytics code at all.

Your photos

Once you upload photos, we use them to generate and print your book. Your original photos are deleted from our servers shortly after your book has been sent to our printer, Lulu, for production. If you don't complete an order, your uploaded photos are deleted automatically 14 days after you receive your review link (matching how long that link stays valid).

Your digital copy

After you order a printed book, we keep a digital copy of the finished book available for you to download for 7 days after your book is delivered. After that, it's deleted from our servers. If a package is lost or delivery is never confirmed, we keep the digital copy for up to 60 days from your order date as a safeguard, then delete it.

Your child's profile information is deleted once your book's data retention period ends.

You're never required to ask us to delete anything — this happens automatically.

Photos of children

Story Weaver is a service for parents, grandparents, and guardians. By uploading a photo, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child pictured, or that you have express permission from that child's parent or guardian to use the photo for this purpose. If a photo includes a child other than your own (a classmate, teammate, or friend, for example), that permission requirement applies to them too. We process photos of children solely to produce the book you ordered and for no other purpose, and we do not use them for marketing, advertising, or any use beyond your order without asking you first.

If you are the parent or guardian of a child pictured in a book made by someone else, and you would like that photo removed, contact us at the address below and we will act on your request.

Data breaches

In the unlikely event of a data breach that creates a real risk of harm to you, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by Canadian law.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing mikem@troven.ca. We will confirm any deletion request within 5 business days.
